“Amex Sync Show Presenting Jay-Z” premieres on Monday, March 12th at 7:00 PM CT at SXSW. Amex’s “Sync.Tweet.Save”, which the concert is promoting, directly creates utility for its users by enabling the easy, automatic transfer of savings to a synced card – coupons are so 2011.
With this new initiative, American Express “aims to be the connective tissue between merchants and consumers on social media that will provide a mix of offers, data, and branding to its members.” In doing so, Amex is admittedly positioning itself as the card for the social media generation. Already signed on: Best Buy, McDonald’s, Whole Foods, H&M, Virgin America & Zappos, amongst others.
For lucky SXSW attendees, eligible cardmembers in Austin will receive $10 when they sync their Card, tweet the special offer #AmexAustin10 and make purchases using the synced card in Austin during SXSW from March 9 to March 13.
For everyone else, the show will be streamed on American Express’s Youtube Channel.
P.S. Wonder if Jay Z negotiated a reduced/eliminated Black Card fee..
