Mr. Bogusky, of Crispin Porter + Bogusky fame, addressed a small group Wednesday morning on what he calls Social Entrepreneurism. It was quite the departure in theme and tone from the rest of the week’s happenings.

Easily the most fun I had at SMW, the Oreo event was a rare opportunity to peek inside the workings of one of the best loved, most enduring brands of all time. Beth Reilly, Oreo’s Digital and Social Marketing Lead was interviewed by Sarah Hofstetter, President of 360i (their social media agency), though it quickly turned into a group conversation.

This event was analogous to “Branded Content for Dummies” and I suspected as much before arriving at FIT. While we at OE don’t generally have such a low opinion of ourselves, I thought it might be worthwhile to go and possibly gain some new insights.

The opening talk, delivered by two gentleman from SocialVibe, was much more insightful than the panel that followed. The two laid out several extreme case studies, using them to clearly and directly explain their take on what makes truly effective engagement: executions that leverage some combination of consumer motivations that earn value.
