TWEED

Don’t miss this week’s episode of Horizons, where hosts Adam Shaw and Saima Mohsin travel to Brazil and The Netherlands to investigate agricultural production and smart—and definitely a bit off-beat—nutrition. Sponsored by Dupont, Horizons is developed independently by BBC World News. The television series is part of The Horizons Project, a comprehensive branded content platform developed by OgilvyEntertainment, which aims to reinforce DuPont s a scientific thought leader amongst business decision makers. It airs on BBC World News on Friday at 9:30pm, Saturday at 4:30am, and Sunday at 10:30am and 4:30pm.

This weekend’s episode will also feature the latest DuPont Story of Inclusive Innovation, “Milk and More,” which showcases DuPont and Mixpack’s collaboration to develop food packaging technology that would deliver healthy, safe food to inhabitants of the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.  The unique packaging withstands the journey to remote areas and lasts up to 12 months without refrigeration.  In addition to airing during this weekend’s episode of Horizons, “Milk and More” is available on youtube.com/dupont beginning this Friday.

As Executive Producer, I am excited to announce the October 5th theatrical release of our highly acclaimed documentary film ESCAPE FIRE: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare. ESCAPE FIRE tackles one of the most pressing issues of our time: what can be done to save our broken medical system? The film examines the powerful forces trying to maintain the status quo in a medical industry designed for quick fixes rather than prevention, for profit-driven care rather than patient-driven care. The film is about a way out, about saving the health of a nation.

I personally invite you – indeed urge you – to attend opening weekend to show your support. Starting Friday, the film opens in select theaters in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC, Cleveland, Phoenix, Nashville, Tucson, Salt Lake City, and Boston. To learn more, visit EscapeFireMovie.com. Join the movement at Facebook.com/EscapeFire and @EscapeFire. Thank you for helping us change the conversation about healthcare.

Director Matt Heineman was interviewed by MSNBC to discuss ESCAPE FIRE: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, which as you should know by now is opening in theaters across the nation on Friday! During the segment, Heineman discusses his inspiration for working on the film, the military’s role as a microcosm for the American healthcare system, and the issues that could arise as the healthcare industry evolves. Heineman argues that one of the biggest flaws of our system is that it is a disease management system rather than a disease prevention system that profits off of sickness rather than health. Check out the exclusive interview with MSNBC here.

The day has finally come – today marks the 100th and final day of the Oreo Daily Twist campaign. Since June 25th, Nabisco has been fulfilling it’s brand mission of helping people celebrate the kid inside of us all and offering a visually punning “ad” on a daily basis to more than 27.9 million people who “like” Oreo on Facebook or check-in on Oreo.com, Pinterest or Twitter.
The campaign spanned 100 days to celebrate the 100th anniversary in March of Kraft’s “World’s Favorite Cookie.”  As today is the culmination, a “virtual office” has been set up in Times Square to craft the final Daily Twist ad based on real-time suggestions from fans.  This real-time creation of content will most likely draw a lot of attention to Oreo’s social media outlets.  To date, “likes,” comments and “shares” for Oreo have already increased an average of 110% since the start of the campaign and today’s grand finale will only help those stats while showing the world how relevant the Nabisco brand has become.

With its approaching theatrical release date of October 5th, the award-winning feature film, ESCAPE FIRE: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare is getting media attention across the map. The film was recently featured in the Huffington PostNew York Magazine (as an Editor’s Pick!), and Roger Ebert’s Journal in the Chicago Sun Times.

Roger Ebert, who refers to the film as “extraordinary”, promises a full critique shortly. In the meantime, Ebert discusses ESCAPE FIRE in the context of acupuncture and within the greater context of how the U.S. healthcare system should be called “American sickness care.” In other words, we focus more on healing sick people rather than preventing them from getting sick in the first place, which is a guiding light of the film’s plot.

Wendell Potter of the Huffington Post refers to ESCAPE FIRE as “compelling and convincing” and reviews the film in the context of special interest groups – stating that there are commonsense solutions that require innovative thinkers and risk-takers. The challenge is that the healthcare system has become a business, which seems to value money over preventive care.
